Just because word games are educational doesn’t mean that they can’t be a lot of fun to play. “Qquip”, a two to six player card game currently seeking your help on Kickstarter, seems to be the best of both worlds in that regard. It not only features intuitive wordplay, but will force players to make some pretty tough decisions…as a gaming dad myself, these games are typically ideal for family game night.
Game creator Derrick Samuels had this to say:
“ANNISTON, Ala. /January 06, 2014 — The Qquip Project team is launching their new Qquip social tabletop card game project on Kickstarter.com today. The Qquip card game can be played with two to six players. The first player to complete a funny Qquip word phrase using the individual words in their five card hand wins the game. In order to win the game, players must use timing, strategy, skill, and luck to avoid being derailed by the other players.
Players can take other players’ cards, trade hands; lose turns or someone else’s entire phrase hand to complete the Qquip phrase. Players must protect their physical cards in their hand and their Qquip phrase hand on the board. Players must know when to play cards or when to hold cards. Qquip was designed to be challenging but very simple and fun to play.
To add to the craziness, players can scan the QR-codes on each card before or after the game by using their mobile smart phone. Once scanned, the player can unlock tips, watch a funny video, see pictures of other players losing it all or win cool tech prizes instantly. The QR-code interaction brings the Qquip physical game, your mobile device and the internet together under one exciting game platform. Players can submit Qquip videos of gameplay, strategy, tips or watching a friend or family member losing in stunning Qquip fashion. These videos will air on our future Qquip TV channel on the Qquip website.
“The Qquip card game is a very challenging word game and always unpredictable. But you don’t want to be on the losing end of a player hitting you with the Super Q card and taking your entire Qquip hand you spent time building. This can be a funny, shocking or downright disturbing moment for a player. Especially be on the lookout for bluffs from other players”, states game creator Derrick Samuels. “We encourage players to snap pictures of players when those surprising moments occur and upload the images to the Qquip website. Qquip is so powerful it can bring enemies together for a good Qquip game!”
Interested players can donate to the Qquip Project at www.Kickstarter for $5.00 early bird offer with a free Qquip eBook distributed at www.Qquip.com. The Qquip site is still under construction and currently taking emails for Qquip newsletter. The game is for all ages and very addictive once you start playing. One of our future goals is to release a Pro Qquip deck for tournament play for hardcore Qquip players with cash prizes. The phrases are fun, clever and witty, and play off the word “quip”. Games can last anywhere from one minute to several nail-biting minutes based on gameplay and players.
