2023 has come and is on its way out the door, but my memories of this year will always remain bittersweet.
My GSD of 6 years passed away in November due to degenerative myelopathy, a terminal disease common to GSDs when they reach middle age. Sarah was around 8 or 9 when she passed and while the decision to let her go was awful, part of me is thankful that she won’t have to live in pain any longer. As a chronic pain (fibromyalgia / tinnitus / tendonitis) sufferer myself, I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Sarah was my best friend and saw me through some terrible times. We connected on a level that I’ve never experienced with another pet. She will be missed.
Sandy, our last remaining ferret of a “business” of 5, turned 9 this year. This is unheard of as most ferrets only live 5-6 years. We’re preparing for the worst and attempting to make her final year(s) as comfortable as possible.
My tinnitus has reached a point where wearing headphones is actually painful, so I had cut down on the podcasts. I still create video game content, typically with the headphones off. Tendonitis in my wrists also makes gaming “fun”. Luckily, today’s pain was mild and thus was able to record my usual end of year tabletop games award list. The jury is still out if I’ll be able to make an end of year video game awards list. Fingers crossed!
Aside from that I’m dealing with family issues that are too personal to list here. The older I get the more I get to watch crap hit the fan and you know what, it sucks. Whoever said “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” must have had a lot of bodyguards. It’s like the world is constantly changing and I’m slowing down, unable to keep up with it. Aidalee has been a beacon of light and to that end, we got engaged earlier this year. We also adopted a three-legged pomsky named Tiki, to whom we’re still getting accustomed. He’s no Sarah, but he’s a bundle of energy and joy.
I suppose that’s enough of that, you’re here for the games. If you like my content and want to help support me, check out my Patreon page and donate there. I still provide Steam keys every month to the top three supporters. Subscribe and share my YT channel around the internets too if you’d be so kind. Pop by Discord if you’d like to chat (keep it family-friendly)!
